Royce Bair Talk on Wednesday 2/18/15 Has Been Rescheduled for Wednesday 4/29/15

Hello -

We would appreciate you letting your readers/members/colleagues know about the rescheduling of this event.

Since Royce is flying across the country specifically to visit with us, since what limited parking at EP Levine's is even more limited with snowbanks everywhere, and since we will be getting even more snow tomorrow and likely Wednesday, we have rescheduled this event for Wednesday, April 29 at EP Levine.

This event if still free and open to the public, but reservations are still required to ensure we do not exceed capacity.  All tickets are currently spoken for, but we do have a wait list that people can sign up for.  Below is the link to the Eventbrite listing:

Those who already have a reservation do not need to do anything - your reservation still stands for the rescheduled date of 4/29.  And to those with a reservation who cannot make it on 4/29 we extend our apologies, and ask that those people cancel their reservations so that folks on the wait list can move up.

We hope to see you in April.  And we hope the snow will be gone by then.

Blurb on the talk is pasted below, and the updated postcard is attached.

Many thanks,

Erik Gehring

"Photographing Milky Way Nightscapes" with Royce Bair
Wednesday, April 29, 2015, 7 pm
EP Levine, 219 Bear Hill Road, Waltham, MA

This event is free and open to the public, but registration is now required to ensure we don't exceed capacity.  Please use this link to register:

We also highly encourage carpooling, as parking will be limited.

Join us for a presentation by Royce Bair on how to photograph Milky Way landscapes. Many of these unique photos are shot as one exposure, with very little digital manipulation. Although starry night landscape photography is challenging, Royce's step-by-step recipe will have you capturing great Milky Way "NightScapes" the first time you go out on your own. Bair will give a digital slide presentation, loaded with a lot of technical, how-to information, such as: planning when and where to shoot the Milky Way, forecasting, finding dark skies, calculating star alignment, choosing the right lens, exposure calculation, noise reduction techniques, light painting, and exposure blending. There will also be time for questions and answers.

BIO:
Royce Bair is a semi-retired magazine photographer who has been doing starry “NightScape” photography for three decades. His photographs have appeared in various publications such as National Geographic, Smithsonian, Reader’s Digest, and American Photo, just to name a few.  He teaches his techniques via free lectures and paid workshops. “Seeing many of my students go beyond what I have done, and use these skills to photograph the Milky Way with new landscape features is very satisfying,” reports Royce. His blog provides additional night photography techniques, where he also offers tutorials, and features the work of other night photographers: http://intothenightphoto.blogspot.com/
