73rd Annual NECCC photo conference

Hello! Tom Cuchara and I are the 2018 NECCC conference chairs. We are asking for YOUR help in promoting this great photography conference. We would like to see it increase this year so we are asking each and every one of you to talk about the conference. Talk it up at your club, post it on your club's website, Facebook page, put it in your newsletters, blogposts, etc. Approach a stranger when you are out shooting and ask them if they know about the conference.

We have a great lineup for NECCC 2018. Almost all of the speakers have never presented at NECCC before, plus more hands-on and interactive sessions. Registration will go LIVE in February and some of our pre-conference workshops are likely to sell out -- like Lensbaby with Kathleen Clemons and Photographing Raptors with Tamron and others! You can see a draft of the pre-conference events here Pre-conference Workshops and Events -- This is your chance for three hours of hands-on learning!

This is the 73rd Annual conference! The NECCC photo conference is already the LARGEST event of its type in the country and we want to continue to bring you top rate photography presentations and we want to add MORE photo ops and MORE hands-on activities. The way that we can justify this is by YOU telling someone about the conference. With increased attendance, we can justify MORE activities for the following year.

We are asking YOU to reach out, if everyone reaches out even two people then collectively we will have an amazing reach. So this image above portrays YOUR hand reaching out to photo enthusiasts everywhere!

Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS Lens for sale

Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS Lens for sale, Excellent Condition (Used)

Tom Cuchara is offering a Canon 300mm f/2.8 L IS lens (IS, but not the IS II) in Excellent to Mint condition $3,000. Great for Zoo photography, Birds and Wildlife.

FYI, currently selling USED at B&H for $3400 and $3600.

The sale includes the original hard lens case (with both keys), removable tripod collar, lens hood, the front cover, the rear lens cap, plus a Lens Coat that has always been on the lens. An additional neoprene hood cover.

The lens hood does have a piece of tape on the inside (we took a photo of the tape), keeps the lens hood from scraping lens, and there is one very few small mar on the white finish of the hood -- neither affects functionality (we have photos).

Please contact Tom via e-mail breaphotos@comcast.net or by phone at 1-203-305-1732. Buyer must pick up lens in Hamden CT or pay actual cost for insured ground shipping via major courier (to a continental US address only).

January 15, 2018 Charles Mazel presenting "Fluorescence Photography."

January 15, 2018 Charles Mazel presenting "Fluorescence Photography."

At our January 15, 2018 meeting, CVCC guest speaker will be Charles Mazel, presenting on the topic, "Fluorescence Photography."
"There is a hidden visual world of vibrant color around us all the time, submerged within the sea of white light in which we pass our days. This is the world of fluorescence, a kind of optical alchemy that transforms light from one color to another. It goes unnoticed because it is almost always weaker than the light that is reflected without change of color. The effect can be as striking as it is unexpected, and can be found in plants, animals, foods, man-made objects, and even in ourselves. Exploration of this world with the right equipment can be rewarded with stunning images."

CVCC meets monthly at 7 p.m. most first Mondays (except for holiday Mondays) at the Lymes' Senior Center at 26 Town Woods Rd, Old Lyme, CT. Visitors are always welcome.
