A WEEKEND FILLED WITH FUN, FRIENDSHIP AND LEARNING

Mark your calendars – the NECCC Conference is a few short months away! This three day conference is a great weekend full of learning and fun. This anniversary year will bring lots of special things.  Friday night is the showing of the last Greater Lynn International Exhibition which will be seen in the Fine Arts Center as the only presentation for the evening followed by an ice cream social.  The main speaker for Saturday night is Ron Magill who is sponsored by Nikon. He is a world known nature photographer who works with the Miami Zoo and has been on all the TV networks as an expert.  The Photo-Op room will have many special items all weekend including “Buford” the bull dog, high–speed flash and on Saturday there will be fire-bellied frogs. Our Sunday morning event will be a Revolutionary War re-enactment with American, French and British soldiers.  There will be lots of musket fire, drums and character portraits to photograph sponsored by Hunts. There will be models, vendors, cameras and lenses to borrow from Canon, Nikon, Sigma and Tamron. Sigma will host a special digital competition which is in addition to conference competitions in digital images and prints.  Each attendee will receive a commemorative flash drive for this anniversary weekend.

More updates, registration flyer, program descriptions and speaker information will be on the NECCC website (www.neccc.org) by the middle of March.  Register early for pre-conference classes and air conditioned dorm accommodations.  If you aren’t staying on campus be sure to make a reservation at a local hotel, motel, or bed and breakfast.

Greater Lynn Photographic Association is pleased to announce its third and last female model shoot for the camera club year. As of this notice we have seven models who have confirmed that they will join us at the Greater Lynn club house located at, 564 Boston Street Lynn, MA 01905 Phone 781-592-9922. For directions to the club please go on line to Greater Lynn’s web page look at “About Us.” The fee is $10.00 for Greater Lynn Members and $15.00 for guests. The hours of the model shoot are 10:00 A.M. until 3:00 P.M. Pocket Wizards are supplied for each of the three set ups and we strongly discourage photographers from using their personal Pocket Wizards. Tri-pods are NOT permitted, but mono-pods may be used if they are necessary.

In addition he has received awards from the Communication Arts Photography Annual seven times, Print Magazine four times and has also won the prestigious New York Art Directors Gold Award. He has also been a contributing editor at Popular Photography and Outdoor Photographer magazines. Morning presentation
Understanding Composition - Light is to photography as paint is to a painter: without light, our art would never progress beyond mere blank canvasses, unrealized potential never brought to life. Professional photographer Bryan Peterson will share his years of field experience chasing the light and trying to find the right combination of color, light, mood, and composition to bring his subjects to their fullest expression.

Afternoon Presentation
Learning to See Creatively - Once you've captured the light in the field, it is important to optimize your photos during the digital processing phase to bring them to their fullest potential. Bryan will discuss a number of techniques that are part of his personal digital darkroom workflow for unlocking the magic contained with the digital raw file.

Due to the recent storm activity and the fact that many clubs have had to postpone their meetings, NECCC has decided to extend the deadlines for the 4 NECCC services that were due March 1, 2015.

The new due date is March 15, 2015

The deadlines for 4 NECCC services are still rapidly approaching:

The role of the photographer is to distill the complex scene in front of them to one of simplicity that recreates the vision and emotional experience. Black and White photography removes the distraction of color if it is not an important part of the story being told. In this presentation we will peek into the technical and emotional "toolboxes"  available to the photographer to recreate vision and emotion in the images we create in our attempt to emphasize the story we want to tell.

Please join us on Sunday, March 22nd, between 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. for a wonderful
photographic opportunity. As all of GLPA programs and events this will be a learning experience. If you have never, or are uncomfortable photographing models, we will have mentors available to assist you. The fee for the Model Session is $10 for Greater Lynn members and $15 for non-club members. This is a great opportunity to get some of those award winnings images for competition. We will have six models in attendance, some from this past NECCC conference in three different lighting set-ups. You should begin your three image set by introducing yourself and then asking the model to please pose in the manner you have envisioned. Please finish your three image set by saying, “Thank you,” to the model and then handing the pocket wizard to the next person in line. Please be cognizant of the fact that some of the models are launching their modeling careers and that being friendly and polite helps to put them at ease.

There is a sub shop and very good Italian restaurant within walking distance from the camera club.

If you know of a model or aspiring model that would like to participate in one of our model sessions,
please notify either chairman Jim Gallagher at gjm@aol.com or Skip Hoyt at skiphoto@comcast.net.

The small amount of money that the models receive represents only a partial payment for their
modeling commitment. Every participating photographer is asked to e-mail the models several images that were taken during the day’s shoot. The images will be sent to the individual e-mail address published along with the model’s name during the particular shoot. This will be a fun time for all so please join us for the event.

Last Green Valley Digital Photography club

The Last Green Valley Digital Photography club is so new that we do not yet have officers, a constitution, or a budget.  We have met twice and will be hosting our first competition on

Led by fine art photographers and instructors, Bob Singer (MNEC) and John Tunney, this 3-day workshop is perhaps the most comprehensive and cost-effective offered on the Cape. Highlights include:
