LENSPROTOGO ROBBED PRESS RELEASE: June 15, 2015 - At 8 AM on Monday June 15, 2015, LensProToGo employees arrived to work to find a smashed window; we had been robbed. We hope they at least got to wear cool Mission Impossible outfits, but we sadly aren’t sure of that detail.

For those who have current orders placed with us, rest easy. We will be working with our partners to fulfill all orders. Our customers are our top priority and we understand the importance of getting gear for your shoot. We WILL be in contact if we are unable to fulfill an order. Because we are all hands on deck responding to the matter, we kindly ask that you allow us the day to take stock of the situation. If you have an emergency, we are more than happy to assist you, as always. Starting Tuesday June 16, 2015 at 10AM ET we will be resuming normal operations.

So what exactly happened? An unknown amount of gear mostly Nikon, Canon and Sony equipment was taken out through the new "hole in the wall" and smashed window.

Though this may seem like a large hit to our still growing company, we are in tremendous spirits as a very large amount of our total inventory was out of the building on rentals. We are also truly lucky to have our good friends at LensRentals.com at our side during this time, they're ready to step in and help us fulfill orders as well if need be.

We are now contacting our customers and letting them know about our situation. We will be posting a list of gear that was stolen, along with serial numbers, as we expect whomever committed this crime will be attempting to sell the gear. As a rental company, it’s crucial that we retain all the serial numbers of absolutely every single product that we own, right down to HDMI cables and memory cards. This information will be given to the officials as well as shared through a network used to track gear being sold online.

The good news for our company is no one was hurt during this. Though this is a big blow, our LensProToGo family and our customers are much more important to us than physical cameras and lenses. We are working extremely hard, as always, to make sure that our customers remain our number one priority.

An update will be posted later in the day. We ask that when we post the list of gear and serial numbers you please help us share the story to make sure whoever did this is caught.

With more than 10 years of teaching experience at Claude Monet’s Garden in Giverny, Needle will introduce participating guests to the art of expressive and painterly photography using nothing more than a digital camera or smartphone and Mirbeau’s Monet-reminiscent gardens as a color palette. The two-day photography retreat will take place from July 13-15, with a focus on capturing striking images of flowers that compel guests to look beyond shapes and into the essence of each subject. The workshop, hosted in partnership with locally-based HUNT’S PHOTO & VIDEO, begins with an orientation and cocktail reception upon arrival on Monday, July 13, and throughout the workshop, participants will enjoy a series of photoshoot sessions with one-on-one instruction, immersive lectures about macro and impressionistic photography, group image evaluations and Q&As.

Each attendee may enter one image, with the image file prepared so that: 

• The image file is saved in "jpg" format.
• The width of the image does not exceed 1024 pixels.
• The height (tall) of the image does not exceed 768 pixels.
• The image file size does not exceed 500 kilobytes (KB)
• Preferred color space is sRGB.

The 50 images selected as semi-finalists will have their image assembled in a finalist show prepared by the creative team at Photodex, the makers of ProShow (Gold, Producer, and Web) and will be shown at the Fine Arts Center before the Friday program, and then be available to see on the NECCC website, as well at the SIGMA vendor table at the conference.

The two winners and honorable mentions will be announced at the Friday evening program at the Fine Arts Center. Also, they will be posted at the SIGMA table and the Hospitality Desk on Saturday morning.

The Acuzzo’s are former natives of New York City and have always had a passion for photography. They document their travels with both Nature and Landscape photographs. They believe that travel broadens one’s view of the world. By experiencing other cultures, meeting people from other countries and seeing the beauty of the world has helped them understand that our lives are both interconnected and individualized.

Through photography they seek to document personal experiences, capture scenes and events as they see them and also inspire others. Both Phyllis and Len are members of four photography clubs in the greater New England area. They have received numerous awards through both club and inter-club competitions. Their goal as artists are to show the beauty of God’s and Man’s creations by utilizing the “Power of Light” in their photos.

Phyllis comes from a family of Artists and photographers. Her father and grandfather had studios both on 5th Ave in New York City and Newport, R.I. and often photographed families like the Vanderbilt’s’ and Roosevelt’s. As a child she use to hang out in his studio and sometimes modeled for him. Following in his footsteps was her lifelong dream. Graduated from Sacred heart University with a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting and a minor in fine art. She finally pursued her dream after retiring in 1999 as a Senior Tax Accountant from Pitney Bowes and Gulf and Western Industries.

Len attended the Institute of Design and Pratt Institute in New York City where he studied Architecture. His dream was to become a travel photographer and travel the world. He also finally pursued his dream after retirement and has traveled extensively with his wife, Phyllis and have and continue to document their journey throughout Europe, Central America and the United States.

The Nature of Cape Cod Photography Workshop

Join photographer John Tunney for a special workshop photographing the natural beauty of Cape Cod. John will guide you from dawn to dusk (and maybe beyond) through some of Cape Cod’s most scenic and fertile shooting grounds. Exploring on land and water we'll photograph unspoiled beaches, marshes and trails within the Cape Cod National Seashore, an area rich with coastal flora and fauna, including blue herons, red tail hawks, osprey, piping plovers and more. We'll take a private boat tour through tranquil backwaters and a working harbor to photograph seals, shorebirds and coastal scenes. Along the way you'll learn techniques and tips for using your camera and lenses, composition and editing that will help take your images to a new level. The workshop also includes critiques and brief technical sessions with information about Cape Cod’s landscape and wildlife.

Maximum of 8 participants.

John Tunney (www.jtunney.com) is a professional photographer and instructor. In addition to teaching, John is a frequent exhibitor in galleries, art shows and festivals on Cape Cod and around New England. His work has been featured in a solo exhibition at the Griffin Museum of Photography and has been published in Cape Cod Life, Cape Codder, Fodor’s and other publications. He lives on Cape Cod year-round.

PLEASE NOTE THE NEW PROCESS FOR SUBMITTING IMAGES FOR 2015: Please use the Entry Form to enter your images. They MUST be received by Sunday, July 12, 2015.

• The equipment used for judging this competition uses 1024 X 768. The image must fit into this window (1024 X 768).
• Horizontals must have a width of 1024 or smaller; verticals must have a height of 768 or smaller. Please double check the sizing before submitting images.
• Smaller images are acceptable. The images will be projected as received.
• Resolution should be 100.
• You do not have to rename your images on your computer. When you browse to them from the Entry Form, the Entry Form will take care of renaming them when it submits them.
• You will get a confirming reply email shortly after submitting the Entry Form. You should inquire about your entry if you do not receive one.

Spring 2015 Inter-club Print Competition / Final Standings

NECCC Print Chairman 

The spring 2015 inter-club print competition, hosted by the Greater Lynn Photographic Association, was held on Saturday, May 9th at the GLPA meeting hall in Lynn, MA. Jim Gallagher, MNEC, served as the event coordinator and orgnizer. The judges for this competition were: Mike DiStefano, MNEC, Glenn Guaraldi, MNEC, and Shiv Verma, APSA, MNEC. Mike DiStefano, the NECCC Black & White Print Circuit Vice-President, is the author of many articles on the subject of photography, and has presented numerous programs to clubs and organizations around New England. He’s also a much sought-after judge for local and international competitions.  Glenn Guaraldi has served countless times as a digital image and print judge at both the local and international level. He’s a prolific print maker and a consistent winner in photographic competitions. He’s had a decades-long association with photographic competitions and is presently a valued member of the NECCC Conference Print Room Committee. Shiv Verma is a published author, photographer, educator, and technologist. He’s presently the Digital Circuit Vice-President for the NECCC, and general Chairman of the PSA International. In addition, he’s the immediate past chairman of the PSA Nature Division, Director of the instructional and essay sets for PSA, and a past member of the board of CIPNE. He’s also a past President of the Stony Brook Camera Club and the Gateway Camera Club.  Many thanks go to the Greater Lynn Photographic Association for taking on the task of hosting this competition, and especially to each member of its NECCC interclub competition support team: Jim Gallagher, MNEC, Pat Hanney, Peter Miller, Jake Mosser, HonNEC, and Susan Mosser, HonNEC. Thanks also go to the members of the judging panel... Mike DiStefano, MNEC, Glenn Guaraldi, MNEC, and Shiv Verma, APSA, MNEC for a job well done.

For the spring competition a total of 169 prints were submitted...  50 in class “A”, 31 in class “B”, and 88 in Color. Participating were 22 clubs...  12 in class “A”, 7 in class “B”, and 22 in Color. A total of 37 prints received awards...  9 in class “A”, 7 in class “B” and 21 in Color.
