RULES, GUIDELINES AND PROCEDURES

The Digital Projected Image Competition is open to anyone attending the Conference. Digital makers may enter ONE open and ONE nature to be judged together in one competition. Digital image files must be submitted in advance using the new online Entry Form. By submitting an image, you are certifying that you are the copyright holder of the image and you acknowledge that NECCC will assume no liability for any image submitted.

To enter, do the following:

Digital entries: We are using an online entry form: Please use the online Entry Form to enter your images. They must be received by Sunday, July 10, 2016. Thereafter, submissions may be made by CD at the conference at the Hospitality Table area between noon and 4:00p.m. on Friday. However, submissions made after Sunday, July 10 will be deemed late submissions and as such WILL BE CHARGED A LATE FEE OF $20 PER PERSON. If you will not get to the conference until Friday evening or Saturday, you must submit your entry via the Entry Form prior to July 10. A Status List of all entries received will be published on the NECCC website. Entrants can check it to see if their images have been received in good order. The Status List will be updated at least weekly and will be posted until the judging takes place. A maximum of 2 images may be submitted per entrant. The images must be in JPEG format (see below for formatting and naming instructions).

SUBMITTED IMAGES. As a Conference attendee, you may submit one Open image and one Nature image file. PSA rules on Nature images will be used. Entries must originate as photographs (image/captures of objects via light sensitivity) made by the entrant on photographic emulsion or acquired digitally. By virtue of submitting an entry, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own.

Saturday, April 9th, 9:00 am – 4:30 pm

In this unprecedented, one-day portrait workshop, participants will have the opportunity to work directly with Paula as she shares her expertise and shows techniques to make authentic, photojournalistic portraits of your own. Paula will cover such topics as capturing fleeting moments during a session…when a child thinks no one is watching, the hugs a parent shares with a shy child, or even a toddler running away from the camera giggling.
 
She will talk about her experience as a photojournalist and how she implements those skills in capturing beautiful, timeless and story-telling portraits in today’s competitive photography world.
 

​During an afternoon 

photo shoot, you will apply these techniques, under the guidance of Paula, while working with models on campus. She will then review the images with you and make valuable suggestions to apply to your image making.

This is a "Learn & Shoot" opportunity so we will be working with models, in studio and outside on campus.

Join Scott Levine as he teaches you to use your Speedlight (flashes) effectively and efficiently on location or in the studio. Scott will move through multiple set-ups to demonstrate blending flash with natural light and incandescent light to create varied results…from high-key and dramatic to soft and warm.

Additionally, you will learn…

• how to use corrective gels to balance any lighting situation
• how to use modifiers to turn your Speedlight into a portable studio
• off-camera and multiple flash techniques
• bounce, blend and sculpt your Speedlight to maximize results

This is a unique annual photo conference dedicated to macro photography. I’ve always wanted to design a program where professional photographers could come together and teach their skills in macro photography and post processing techniques to those who want to learn, and advance their macro photography to the next level.

This Macro Photo Conference will have plenty of how-to lectures and five hours of photographing with varying subject matter. The speakers will be available to help participants with composing subjects and technical aspects.  So you need to bring your camera, macro lens, and tripod.

Speakers will have their books available, and will be happy to sign them for you.

We  will also have a discussion on getting your images published, and selling through stock agencies with former Outdoor Photographer Magazine editor Rob Sheppard, and KAC Stock Agency owner Kathy Adams Clark.

Leading New England photo retailer Hunt’s Photo will be there selling lots of photo products. Tamron will have a tech rep on hand with lenses available for you to try out.

There will be a limit of 100 participants, and it should sell out quick. Last year we had participants from 16 different states.

Deborah Sandidge is a professional photographer specializing in world travel and artistic imagery. As an author and instructor, Deborah, expands the horizons of those who enjoy her photographic artistry. She generously shares her creative perspective and inspirational ideas through workshops and seminars. Deborah is well respected for her ability to blend the creative and the technical aspects of photography, giving the viewer a unique and fresh dimension illustrated in each subject she photographs. Deborah is the author of Digital Infrared Photography, published by Wiley. She has collaborated with the Nikon Learn and Explore site demonstrating star and star trail photography, along with long exposure photography. Morning presentation. Creative Techniques – Recognizing the visual potential of an image is important to your creativity. This section will explore the creation of unique images that reflect the passage of time using time-lapse and multiple exposure techniques.

Long Exposure Creativity – The use of neutral density filters, motion, such as crashing waves or busy walkways, can be controlled with these filters allowing you to create expressive, fine-art imagery.
Afternoon Presentation. Infrared: The World of Invisible Light – Capture the surreal qualities of infrared light with your digital camera and create stunning images. You’ll learn the essentials for utilizing infrared light for beautiful landscapes, portraits and still life imagery.

Artistic Imagery – Expand your techniques through the use of plug-ins, filters, and texture blending techniques with before and after illustrations of photographic interpretation. You’ll learn how to use the tools of your craft and your own endless imagination to turn your photography into art.
