Street photography talk at the Seven Hills Camera Club

Date: June 15, 2016  Time: 7PM
Place: Salem Covenant Church, 215 E. Mountain St., Worcester, MA
Suzanne Merritt will present a talk and images relating to Street Photography.
Many definitions of street photography exist.  It may or may not have people in it, may or may not be candid, may or may not be in public place... on and on.
What does seem to be true is that it shows some evidence of presence of people in an urban setting and it touches our soul. It makes us laugh, cry, or feel amused at how a glimpse of a moment of ordinary life can touch our hearts. Street photography offers us the opportunity to create meaningful images that tell a story. Are you curious about what this is and how to do it?  Join us on June 15th from 7-9 for this educational talk.
"Street photography is almost a spiritual process for many because it is so personal and so akin to a kind of photographic enlightenment.  I see things: moments just reveal themselves because I have put myself in the right situation for it to happen." Nick Turpin.
The Presenter:  Suzanne Merritt is a master level photography instructor with a studio at the Boston Center for the Arts. She has been leading workshops on the topics of creativity, photography and beauty in Asia, Europe and the US. for over 20 years. Her Meetup Group: Take Better Pictures has over 2000 members. Suzanne was the founder of the Polaroid Creativity Lab and has recently launched the Curious Soul Photo School. Two years ago Suzanne presented her 8 patterns of beauty work to our club. You can see her photography and subscribe to her blog atwww.curioussoulphotos.com  Suzanne's award winning book: Flow-tography on iTunes.
ALSO SAVE THE DATE for the hands on Street Photography Workshop Suzanne will be leading on Worcester streets.  Saturday June 25th.  Details to be posted on our site soon.
Some topics that will be discussed:
•  Ethical questions of permission and use
•  Creative strategies for catching candid moments
•  Most effective camera settings for catching the action
•  Critique of example images to inspire you
