NECCC Electronic Interclub competitions -- Winning images in each of the four classes

The highest scoring clubs for the 2017-18 season of the NECCC Electronic Interclub competitions were announced in the Spring report, the third and last competition of the season. And now, the winning images in each of the four classes have also been chosen. The judge used for this daunting task was G. William “Bill” Buchanan, HonPSA, FGDC of Michigan. He has served in many roles for the Photographic Society of America, including standing as its Electronic Imaging Division Chair. He is also involved with the PSA Portfolio Assessments. In making his choices, Bill wanted to pass along comments that every image was terrific and selecting the “best of the best” designation was not an easy process.

North Haven Camera Club will present a full-day nature photography seminar called Roamin' with Roman

North Haven Camera Club will present a full-day nature photography seminar called Roamin' with Roman, with professional nature photographer and author Roman Kurywczak, on Saturday June 9 at Whitney Center, 200 Leeder Hill Dr., Hamden.

The morning session, from 9:00 until 11:30, will include topics "Photographing the Nighttime Landscape", and "Taking Your Macro Photography to the Next Level".  Afternoon topics, from 1:00 to 4:00, will be "Photographing Wildlife: From Portraits to Flight", and "For the Love of Landscapes".

Roman Kurywczak has given countless lectures and hands-on workshops across the country, with topics covering landscape, macro, bird, and wildlife photography.  As the author of several instructional eBooks on nature photography, Mr. Kurywczk says he strives to share his passion for photography as others have shared with him.  For more information about Roman Kurywczak, visit his website at roaminwithroman.com.

An every-other-year judging workshop for all photographers at NECCC-affiliated clubs across New England

Whether you aspire to become a judge/commentator or would just like to better understand what makes judges "tick," this one-of-a-kind, one-day judging/commenting workshop will prepare you for the judge's seat, build your confidence with a live, real-time scoring/critiquing experience and provide you with fresher, deeper understanding of how judges should “see” and think.  Led by CCAA Juried Master Artist and Fine Art Photographer Bob Singer who has been a judge/commentator at PSA international salons, NECCC salons, camera clubs, art galleries and magazine competitions for over thirty years, this unique one-day workshop interactively involves you as it polishes your judging skills, understanding and insights.

The Boston Camera Club Members Show will run at the West Newton Cinema through June 10, 2018. The West Newton Cinema is located at 1296 Washington Street, West Newton, MA 02465, and the exhibition will be viewable every day from 1 pm – 7 pm, as well as additional hours based on the cinema’s movie schedule.

The exhibition will feature work from 25 current members, as well as one photograph from long deceased member Horace Latimer, whose 1931 bequest helped put the club on solid financial footing to this day.

In this on-hands workshop, Hector will show you how to create great images using quick 10-minute workflows in Adobe Photoshop CC. Hector will show you how to go create a quick and easy workflow that will produce great images in little time. This workflow can be applied to all sorts of images, Hector's examples will be nature but the techniques that you will learn can be applied to any type of photo.

Prerequisites: Participants will be expected to have Photoshop CC pre-loaded and activated on their laptops and know how to open and save files. Those who prefer to use Photoshop CS6 may
participate, but please understand that some features covered in the class may not be available or may be implemented differently in PS CS6. Note - this workshop will NOT cover Adobe Lightroom.
