Meet Ed Pedi, one of our amazing NECCC 209 speakers. I first met Ed through PPA (Professional Photographer Association). Ed is dynamic, energetic and extremely knowledgeable, and at the same time down to earth, approachable and willing to share everything because he loves to teach and inspire. It is easy to feel intimated when learning from a Mater like Ed, but if you take one of his two hands-on portrait classes you will learn sooo much and come away a better photographer. Some photographers hold back, but not Ed, he will share his knowledge with you. Ed makes his living doing portrait photography, quite a rarity in today's world. He is talented and modest he just won the PPA 2018 Grand Imaging Award for High School Senior Portrait category for "The Finale" https://edpediphoto.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Newsletter-first-quarter-2018.pdf

Ed is a Photographer, Mentor and Author. He holds the degrees of M. Photog. Cr. CPP and he is a PPA approved Juror. He is a past president of PPAM and PPANE. His images have been awarded every possible professional award including a PPA Grand Imaging Award in 2018. He is a two-time recipient of the PPA National Award for service to professional photography and in 2018 he was presented with his proudest award achievement to date; the ‘Helen K. Yancy’ Award for meritorious service to the photography industry. His book, ‘Classic Family Portraits’ is a helpful resource guide for photographing families. His passion and goal is to help others become more successful with their photography both personally & professionally.

American Rose Society Master Rosarian and Horticultural Judge to Speak on Garden and Flower Photography at CT Valley Camera Club Meeting, May 6.

American Rose Society Master Rosarian and Horticultural Judge to Speak on Garden and Flower Photography at CT Valley Camera Club Meeting, May 6.

AREA WIDE: The guest speaker at the Monday May 6 meeting of the Connecticut Valley Camera Club (CVCC) will be American Rose Society Master Rosarian and Horticultural Judge David Candler who will give a presentation titled “Garden and Flower Photography”. The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. at the Lymes’ Senior Center, 26 Town Woods Rd., Old Lyme, Conn. All are welcome. There is no admission charge.

About the presentation: The program will cover garden landscape to macro photography of small specimens: including planning, workflow, big gardens, close-up and artistic considerations. The talk is aimed at existing photographers desiring to improve this area of photography rather than a gardener learning photography.

About the speaker: David Candler is a Master Rosarian of the American Rose Society and is a Designated Photographer for all the New England Rose Shows. During his 25 years in the United States Navy he held various positions; among other tasks he was Periscope Photography Officer on a submarine. He retired as a Business Manager for AT&T where he photographed all the state’s Central Offices.

Dave is interested in most all segments of photography from ultra-macro to astrophotography, under the sea to very high heights and from infra-red to ultraviolet. He practices on flowers in his garden of several hundred roses and in large public gardens such as New York Botanical Garden and Elizabeth Park in Hartford. He has made his home in southeastern Connecticut for the last 35 years.

About the Connecticut Valley Camera Club (CVCC): The CVCC is dedicated to offering its membership the opportunity to become better photographers. The group offers a variety of presentations and interactive workshops to help members expand their technical and creative skills. Photographers of all levels of experience are welcomed.  The club draws members from up and down the river, from Middletown to Old Saybrook; from East Hampton to Old Lyme; and along the shoreline from Guilford to Mystic. For more information, visit the club’s website at https://ctvalleycameraclub.smugmug.com. CVCC meeting dates, speakers/topics, and other notices are also published on the club’s Facebook page at www.facebook.com/CTValleyCameraClubPage

CREATE YOUR OWN PHOTOGRAPHY OASIS
http://necccphotoconference.org/create-your-own-photography-oasis/
The Certified Backyard Wildlife Habitat is a program that encourages people to manage their gardens & yards as a wildlife garden. Through planting native plants and providing food, water, and shelter for wildlife, you can provide critical wildlife habitat and create a safe-haven for wildlife. This is a win-win for photographers as you do not have to travel to get nature photos!

David has been a photographer since 1972 when his father presented him with his first camera, but his career in photography started in 1992. David learned his craft originally as a painter and from his father who shares his love of nature and photography. Early in his career he traveled with, learned from and taught beside some of the masters of nature photography including John Shaw, Art Wolfe, Galen Rowell, Bryan Peterson, Pat O’Hara, and Rod Planck. David has been teaching photography since 1994 in the classroom and leading workshops around the United States. David presents and leads workshops at many of the country’s top photographic conferences such as the Photographic Society of America Annual Conference, as well as many camera clubs across the USA.
