International Nature Exhibition Judging
International Nature Exhibition Judging
Saturday, May 12, 9:00 A.M.
“Camnats” is a by-invitation-only organization dedicated to the art and teaching of nature photography who will be conducting a Nature International Exhibition in May, which will be judged at the Greater Lynn Photographic Assoc. headquarters at 564 Boston St, Lynn, MA 01905 on May 12. The closing date for entries is May 7, 2012. The chairman of the exhibition is “Camnats” president, Charlie Burke, APSA, EPSA. The judges for the exhibition are three of New England’s top nature photographers and “Camnats” members; Rick Cloran, FPSA, MPSA, MNEC; John Fuller, FPSA, AFIAP; and Jake Mosser, FPSA, EPSA, HonNEC.
There are two sections available to enter, open and wildlife. You may enter four images in each section and you may enter either one section or both sections. The cost is $6 for one section and $8 for both. They will not print a catalog, but an online version will be available. Several medals will be awarded in various categories such as wildflower, insect, landscape, seascape, underwater, and a diversity award in both sections.
We have a lot of excellent nature photographers in New England who could easily get acceptances in this exhibition. Give it a try. The entry process is just like the Greater Lynn International and you can pay online with PayPal. The one difference is the image sizing. Please read the instructions as this sizing is a bit larger than 1024 x 768. Entry forms and information can be found online at www.camnats.org.
Whether you enter or not, drop down to the GLPA headquarters to view some of the judging.
A show of the accepted images will also be held at Greater Lynn headquarters for the public on Saturday, June 23, at 2:00 P.M. Hope you will all plan to attend.

Lighting Demystified Workshop - Date Change Notification
The April 29 workshop will now be held on April 28th
There are two spots open for April 22nd - Yesterdays workshop was sold out and was awesome.
Here are some comments from the post workshop survey:
As an advanced amateur with limited lighting experience, this course gave me a good overview of lighting fundamentals and their application in a variety of challenging situations. In addition, this course will provide me with a good basis for future lighting exploration as I further my photography skill set. Thanks Shiv!
4/16/2012 9:14 AMI learned a tremendous amount about lighting. Concepts were explained, misconceptions eliminated and techniques to succeed were taught. The best of all was how to do this without spending a ton of money on equipment!
4/15/2012 9:45 PMThe workshop was excellent, I am glad I was made aware of it from a fellow camera club member. I really liked Shiv's teaching style, he got into the technical details of light and made sure everyone understood each concept before he moved on.
4/15/2012 9:06 PMI just spent a day at Shiv Verma's workshop on understanding Artificial Lighting. I came away from the workshop with a clearer understanding on the importance and the use of artificial lighting as well as the different types of lighting currently available. I highly recommend this program to the serious photographer interested in improving their skill set as well as gaining a better understanding on mastering light. Zig Cape Cod

Greater Lynn Model - Sunday April 22, 2012
The Model Committee of Greater Lynn Photographic Association wishes all photographers to know that we will be holding our fourth and last model shoot of the camera club year. As of now we have five very pretty models who will be modeling between 10:00 A.M. and 3:00 P.M. As always, we will have three sets working, a portrait set and two full length sets. The cost to Greater Lynn members is $10.00 and invited guests $15.00.
Lastly, photographers who participate in any of the model shoots are very strongly encouraged to submit digital images to (modelshoots@greaterlynnphoto.org). Please, it is imperative that you size the images to 768 pixels in height by 1024 pixels in width the resolution of 240 and JPEG. Furthermore, it is necessary that you cluster the images of each model into a group and send the images with the proper name attached. You may find it necessary to send more than one e-mail for each model if you send more than four images of a particular model. The Model Committee always posts the model’s name on the main light stand for each shoot with the expectation that the photographers will use the proper spelling of the model’s name when titling images and prints. Photographs of the participating models are posted on the camera club’s web site under the models activities in order to aid in indentifying individual models.
Thank you,
The Model Committee
