DUBLIN, New Hampshire (July 11, 2012)—Yankee Magazine is accepting submissions now through October 1, 2012, for their 2012 Photo Contest. This year’s theme is “my hometown.” The winning photos will be featured in Yankee’s March/April 2013 issue, and photographers will win cash prizes for 1st Place ($500), 2nd Place ($300), and 3rd Place ($200). Honorable mention winners may also be published.

Submitted images should capture the essence and spirit of the photographer’s New England hometown—whether native-born, or adopted—through its landscape, its people, or a local event. Photographs will be judged based on creativity, composition, and the ability to capture a strong sense of place. Previously published or awarded photographs are not eligible for this contest.

Submissions must be taken in one of the six New England states between June 15, 2010 and October 1, 2012, to be eligible to win. GIF, JPEG, or PNG files up 10MB in size, but no larger than 2100 pixels high by 2100 pixels wide in dimension will be accepted. Only photographs submitted through YankeeMagazine.com/HometownContest will be considered for the contest. Photographs sent via mail will not be entered into the contest and cannot be returned to senders.

NECCC photographers are invited to consider a photo "audience expansion" opportunity.

The producers of “At-Hand Guides”, top-rated New England iPhone/iPad travel guides, has opportunities for photos.

Photographers get the following benefits:
            - Expanded Internet presence
            - Gain international exposure
            - Demonstrate skills to a broad audience
            - Direct viewers to their image portfolios and messages
            - Receive new attention from potential clients

Accepted photos get a watermarked text attribution on every photograph.  Photographer chooses exact text. The publisher, At-Hand Apps, LLC,  provides a micro-bio and link to a photographer’s web site from the main app’s support web site.

At-Hand Guides has used over 7,000 images to date and will need another 7,000 over the next 12-18 months.

Editors are interested in images of both well-traveled and lessor-know destinations.  NECCC attendees may already have taken pictures that can be used.  There are also available assignments at places photographers may wish to visit (or re-visit).  At-Hand Guides images have three distinct purposes:  1. Document the likely visitor experience, 2.) Showcase the architecture of the destination, and 3.) Find art and beauty everywhere.

Interested photographers may learn more at:  GrayRobert@AtHandApps.com  or 1-617-416-0390. The app web site is:  http://www.AtHandGuides.com which provides an overview of the travel apps.
