J. Reisman 1925 - 2013 SPRINGFIELD - Abraham J. Reisman passed away on
Thursday, September 26 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was a
lifelong resident of Springfield, and was a veteran of WWII having served in
the Marines as an air traffic controller at Cherry Point, NC. Abe was a
graduate of Classical High School, and received a Bachelor's Degree in
Chemistry and a Master's Degree in Polymer Science from the University of
Massachusetts-Amherst. While working for Monsanto as a chemist, Abe was granted
multiple patents for products and processes he developed through his research.
He was President of The Photographic Society in Springfield and The New England
Camera Club Council. After his retirement from Monsanto, Abe taught classes in
photography and computer skills, and served in many leadership and volunteer
positions. He was a member of Kodimoh Synagogue for over fifty years, which is
now Congregation B'nai Torah. He was the son of the late Bella (Ratnowsky) and
Emanuel Reisman and was predeceased by his brother Bernard Reisman in 1974. Abe
is survived by his wife Helen (Damb) Reisman, his son Jeff Reisman of
Killingworth, CT, his daughter Brenda Steinberg and her husband Jeffrey of
Naperville, IL, grandsons Eric and Jason Steinberg of Naperville, IL, his
sister-in-law Janice Reisman of Enfield, CT, his niece Rachel Reisman and his
nephew Bruce Reisman. Abe's funeral will be 2:00 PM Sunday Sept. 29th at the
Ascher-Zimmerman Funeral Home with burial in Kodimoh Cemetery. Shiva will be
Sunday evening at the Reisman residence with a service at 7:00 PM .
