The competition is open to anyone registered and attending the Conference. Makers may enter ONE
Open and ONE Nature image (a total of two images) to be judged. PSA rules on Nature images will
be followed. Digital image files should have been submitted by e-mail before the Sunday,
July 8, 2018 deadline, or by CD or thumb drive at the Conference (see below).
Image Submission at the Conference: images on a CD or thumb drive will be accepted at the
Conference on Friday from noon to 4 p.m. at the Competition desk, Campus Center (Main
Concourse) near the Book Store. There is a $20 late-entry for images submitted at the
Conference.

Submitted Images:
By virtue of submitting an image or images, the entrant certifies the work as his/her own.

Judging:
Three qualified judges will select the winning images. Judging of the competition will follow the same general rules used in the NECCC interclub competitions. Scoring will be from 9 to 30 points.
In the Open category, awards for Best of Show, Best Creative, Best Landscape (Edmund A.
Woodle Award), Best Portrait (male or female) and Best Photojournalism (Roslyn McNish Award) will be given.

In the Nature category, awards for Best of Show, Best Wildlife, Best Bird (Robert Strindberg
Ornithology Award), Best Mammal in Action, and Best Botany will be given.
In addition, the Yankee Photographic Society will give three (3) judges’ choice medals in the Open
category, and the Connecticut Association of Photographers will give three (3) judges’ choice medals
in the Nature category.

Winning entrants may pick up medals at the Awards program on Sunday at 11:30 AM. Report
cards can be picked up at the submission desk near the Book Store, 2nd level of the Campus Center
on Sunday from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m.

Digital images: The equipment used for judging this competition uses 1024 X 768 sizing. The
image must fit into this window (1024 width X 768 height). Smaller images are acceptable. The
images will be projected as received.

JUDGING will be on Saturday, 1 p.m. in Room 917, Campus Center. Award-winning images will be
shown Sunday at 11:30 AM in Campus Center, Room 917.

AFTER THE COMPETITION
Report cards can be picked up on Sunday 8 a.m. to 10:00 at submission desk near the Book
Store, 2nd level of the Campus Center. Winning entries will be shown at the NECCC
Competition Awards on Sunday, at 11:30 AM in CC 917. Awards will also be presented to all
winners. The two Best of Show Medals will be mailed to the makers after the conference as they will
have the winning print image printed on the medal with the appropriate engraving.
If you cannot be there, awards will be mailed to you after the conference.

The 2018 judges are speakers Betty Wiley of Massachusetts, Hector Astorga of Texas and
John Slonina of Massachusetts.
