Come to an amazing waterdrop workshop on Sunday June 9th -- be introduced to the exciting world of water drops! The workshop will take you from simple water drops to different colored water collisions, allowing you to get many breathtaking images. No equipment is necessary, as we will provide it for you! All you need is a CF card to attend this workshop. Led by Susan Candelario, she will guide you to some of the equipment that you can use from the basic to more advanced with the ability for you to capture the many phases of water drops as well as water drop collisions. They will cover tips on setups and lighting and every participant will get many chances to go home with their own liquid works of art! This Farmstead museum is chock full of things: kitchen, store, farm equipment, you name it. It has all of the details for macro and is also perfect for HDR. We will meet on Sunday at 12:30. Tom and I will be providing instruction on composition, exposure, HDR, etc. for the first half and then we will also be photographing this wonderful place. We have posted some images in thephoto album from our last trip there.

You can also join us on April 30th for a post-processing workshop and work on, or learn how to, process those HDR exposures with tonemapping in Photomatix.

"The Museum property was once part of John Holcombe's "Plantation", according to his will of 1742. In 1968, the Farmstead was donated to the Hunterdon County Historical Society In 1984, the property was deeded to the Holcombe-Jimison Farmstead, Inc. The Museum is housed in the restored three story bank barn that was built into the hillside to make both floors accessible from ground level. Livestock were kept on the lower level, crops above. Today, some of the exhibits arranged in the barn cover the tools and equipment used by the farmer to raise and harvest the crops that provided fodder for livestock and commodities to sell. Other displays cover the domestic chores of the farmer's wife in the preparation and preservation of food and the making of clothing. Early examples of now common implements and appliances give the visitor a sense of passing time. The Museum's volunteers and Trustees have restored the property and added outbuildings for the Post Office, General Store, Blacksmith Shop, Carriage Shed, and Print Shop."

May 18 - 25 Yosemite in the Spring & Monolake Photographing the phenomenal grand vistas of Yosemite. Half Dome, El Capitan, the Tunnel View and Mirror Lake.  The springtime snow-fed waterfalls will be in full glory as will the the dogwoods and other spring blooms.  This is the time of year for the most incredible light both morning and evening.

Come and photograph the majestic Grand Central terminal -- capture all of the details in the shadows and highlights with HDR photography! We have special permission to use tripods during this five hour workshop.

We will meet at 11:30 am at GCT and then you will be shooting from 12noon until 5pm. Tom and I will be helping you out with compositions, checking exposures, etc. 10 participants and two leaders.

We will also be offering a separate optional pre-workshop workshop designed to get people familiar with the cameras and bracketing for HDR photography. You will be taking 3-10 exposures in order to capture all of the details in the shadows and highlights.

We will also be offering a separate optional post-workshop workshop to demonstrate Photomatix, the most popular HDR processing software.

Winter in Newburyport photo contest

Announcing the first annual Winter in Newburyport photo contest.  This contest is open to all photographers and will be judged in two age categories, adult and young adult.  The young adult category is age 16 and under.  Photos should be either landscape, or a local landmark.

The winner in each of these categories will receive a $50.00 Newburyport Gift Certificate.  In addition, the winning photo will be matted and framed by Harborframes, Custom Frame Shop of Newburyport and then proudly displayed in the Newburyport Post Office lobby.

All photos must be taken in Newburyport, Newbury, or Salisbury, and will need to include the location of the photo.  Photographers may submit up to 3 photos, and the preferred size is 8 x 10".

Open to every NECCC club member, two photography contests with cash prizes announced by CCAA

NECCC member Cape Cod Art Association, through its Photography Center of Cape Cod, has announced two different online photography competitions with cash prizes, one for adults and one for Massachusetts high school students. All camera club members (see contest #1) and Massachusetts high school students (see contest #2) are encouraged to check them out and participate. Important to every entrant: there are no rules in these two competitions that infringe upon a photographer's rights or jeopardize ownership of entered images.

Rick Sammon, a Canon Explorer of Light and one of the most active photographers on the planet, has photographed almost 100 destinations around the world. A prolific, award-winning author, Rick has published 36 books, including Secrets of HDR Photography, Exploring the Light and Digital Photography Secrets. His book Flying Flowers won the coveted Golden Light Award and his book Hide and See Under the Sea won the Ben Franklin Award. Rick co-founded the Digital Photography Experience podcast with Juan Pons and hosts several classes on KelbyTraining. He has been nominated for the Photoshop Hall of Fame and is considered one of today’s top digital imaging experts. In this informative seminar, Rick will use his newest people, wildlife, landscape and travel pictures from around the globe to show the difference between taking pictures andmaking pictures as he shares techniques, digital darkroom tips and photo philosophy.
