The 56th Annual Berks Photographic Society's Photographic Conference is June 5, 6 & 7, 2015 at the deFranscesco Building, Kutztown University, Kutztown, Pennsylvania.
There will be two post conference workshops, one led by Hanson Fong and one led by Lisa Cachura. You must be registered for the conference to be able to register for one of the post conference workshops. The workshops will be held Sunday, June 7, 2015 from 1:30 until 5:30. CCAA Announces New Summer Cape Cod Photo Shootout
CCAA Announces New Summer Cape Cod Photo Shootout
Open to all who register in advance for it, Cape Cod Art Association’s 2015 Cape Cod Photo Shootout
from June 5-7, 2015 is a guided photography experience with cash prizes
that will take participants to many hidden and less traveled parts of
the Cape. CCAA will transport participants to numerous scenic areas
around Cape Cod including local beaches, desolate marshes, hidden
trails, scenic streets, and more. Highlights of this trip include a
traditional clambake dinner, an opportunity to photograph whales, an
Eco-Boat tour of Sandy Neck, and opportunities to explore numerous
beaches and marshes from Sandwich to Yarmouth. Participants have the
opportunity to enter a competition for cash prizes and the chance to
have photos displayed on the CCAA website in an online exhibition. A
list of the competition categories will be given at check-in.
Participants may enter one image for each category. One winner will be
chosen from each category and entered to win the 2015 Cape Cod Photo
Shootout Grand Prize. Photographers will retain the rights to their
images taken during the weekend. Photo entries must be received within
10 days (June 17, 2015 midnight deadline). Winners will be announced
shortly after they are judged. Registration information can be found

acclaimed photographer Joe McNally has mastered the art of taking
photographs that tell stories with artistry and compassion and that make
expert use of color and light. Known for his series "Faces of Ground
Zero--Portraits of the Heroes of September 11th,"
McNally has photographed stories for Sports Illustrated, LIFE, and
National Geographic magazines, among others.
On Wednesday, April 29, McNally will draw on his extensive experience and portfolio to show how to bring emotional impact to photographs of people in nature, focusing on composition, lighting, and the inherent drama of the shot. The winter 2015 inter-club print competition, hosted by the Candlewood Camera Club, was held on Tuesday, February 24th at Hatter’s Park Hall in Danbury, CT. The judges for this competition were: Maria Fuller, Bill Marcy, and Brad Stanton. Maria Fuller has an on location photography studio located in Fairfield County, Connecticut, and specializes in documenting the many stages of motherhood. Bill Marcy is a Past President of Candlewood Camera Club, and Brad Stanton has an advertising, commercial, and industrial photography studio in Danbury, CT. Many thanks go to the Candlewood Camera Club for taking on the task of hosting this competition, and especially to each member of its NECCC interclub competition support team: Donna Cloutier, Tom Peterson, Kevin Rabito, Candi Valeri, and Dennis Yates. Many thanks for a job well done.
This winter has been one for the record books, with many clubs having to cancel and reschedule meetings multiple times. For any New England organization, a calendar of events having dates falling between Halloween and Easter, always poses the risk of having one or more “snow events” upset the schedule. Clubs that meet weekly probably have a better shot at making adjustments... working around snowstorms, than clubs meeting less frequently. Candlewood has bi-weekly meetings, and did well to work the winter competition into their schedule for February. One obvious “fix” would be to run the cycle of interclub print competitions so that competitions aren’t held in any month that snow is likely to fall. This might be practical if we were a Florida organization, but we’re not. Another possibility, dropping the winter competition and going with just fall and spring events, would lessen the overall interclub print competition “experience”, and significantly reduce the number of prints eligible for entry into the annual Print of the Year competition. The best option is to continue with winter competitions, and hope that when Mother Nature schedules her snow events, they fall only on weekends.
For the winter competition a total of 168 prints were submitted... 48 in class “A”, 32 in class “B”, and 88 in Color. Participating were 22 clubs... 12 in class “A”, 9 in class “B”, and 22 in Color. A total of 30 prints received awards... 11 in class “A”, 6 in class “B” and 13 in Color. Clubs that submitted less than their full allotment of four color and four B&W prints, or that missed the winter competition entirely, are encouraged to submit make-up prints along with their regular submissions for the spring competition, to be hosted by the Greater Lynn Photographic Association in Lynn, MA on Saturday, May 9, 2015. Deadline for print submissions is May 2nd. These are new dates, the competition having to be rescheduled due to foul weather forcing the move of the winter competition. Please note: Any print placing third or above in the spring competition (eligible for the print of the year competition) will be held for the P.O.Y. competition.

2015 - 38th Greater Lynn International Exhibition Show
The Greater Lynn Photographic Association would like to invite all photographers to the 2015International Exhibition showcase of accepted & award winning images. Greater Lynn Headquarters

Monday night, April 13, 2015 at 7:30 PM.
This year’s exhibition, which will also be our last exhibition, had 1103 entrants with over 4400 images, from 28 states and 57 different countries. For 2015 we had 28 clubs from all over the world enter and vie for “Best Club” status, sixteen United States clubs (fifteen from New England), and twelve foreign clubs. We received entries from clubs in Iran, Japan, India, Hong Kong, England, Australia, Slovenia, China, Wales, Iran, and Denmark. The Best Club went to Merrimack Valley Camera Club of Andover, Massachusetts. Please join us to see this spectacular array of images from all four corners of the earth. This year’s exhibition has some very unique and dramatic images in it. The world’s best photography in one showcase presentation. After the show we will present the Medals to those winners who are in attendance. We had a large number of New England Award winners this year.
The multi-media showcase is being assembled by a Greater Lynn talented audio-visual producer, Barbara Rozavsky, HonNEC. A master of music selection, her theme segments are a joy to hear and watch. She always matches the images to the music perfectly. The show will run approximately 90 minutes with a short intermission. It will contain about 1400 of the higher scoring images that were "accepted into the exhibition" by the 3 person judging panel.
The admission cost will be $8. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from Susan Mosser s.jmosser@comcast.net

Thirty-eight years is a long time for a continued project. Over the years we have gone from slides to digital and photography has evolved in many ways. This is the end of an era at Greater Lynn and I hope you will be there to see the last of the era.

Workshop I - Fashion Shoot from Start to Finish

Fashion Photography is a very creative and expressive realm of photography. In this workshop Lindsay shows photographers how to put together a fashion shoot, start to finish. This includes preparation, styling, props, lighting, posing and post-processing. She will discuss creativity, building a team, finding a model and more. You will learn how to find inspiration for shoots and how to execute your inspiration to create successful striking images. (Program Sponsored by Sigma, Lighting Equipment supplied by Dynalite)
Workshop II - Hands on Macro: Taking Your Macro Photography to the Next Level

Roman will show you how to get the most out of your macro photography and achieve consistently good results. Overcoming distracting backgrounds and the use of natural light will be covered but a heavy emphasis will be placed on using flash correctly in the field to properly balance the exposure and achieve dramatic results. Many of the techniques used by the pros are inexpensive and can be done using the gear you already own! High key macro photography, cross polarization, and other creative macro techniques will also be explored. Bring your camera, macro lens, and flash if you have one with a fully charged battery and fresh memory card. Knowledge of how to change your camera settings is required to participate; bring your camera manual. Sigma will provide a selection of loaner macro lenses for you to try out during this hands-on workshop. (Sponsored by Sigma)

In these days of digital images, many of us are guilty of taking lots of photos, maybe posting a few on Facebook, and then the rest just live in the dark on our computers! One great way to share your images and tell a story is to make a photo book (you know, kind of like our old photo albums!). In this workshop you will learn how to select your images, prepare them for use in your book including a very basic review of editing, cropping, and sizing (please note this class will not be about teaching you all about Photoshop!). We will utilize Shutterfly to set up your book. You are not obligated to order from Shutterfly, but this will teach you how to choose layouts and add your photos, text and captions. Prerequisites: Bring your laptop (mouse is helpful), power cord, folder with images you would like to use, Shutterfly account, http://www.shutterfly.com/

Although software is one of the great driving forces in modern digital photography, there are many creative effects that can be accomplished in-camera, depending on the camera’s capabilities. Techniques such as HDR, multiple exposures, swipes, infrared, light painting, and extreme long exposures will be illustrated. Jumpstart your creativity in capturing images as Tony shares his visual inspiration with you, along with valuable tips, techniques and knowledge you can quickly incorporate into your own creative style. (Sponsored by Nikon)

By Shiv Verma, APSA, MNEC (MA)
This program will enable you to work more intuitively translating to an increase in productivity, resulting in a better-quality work product. We will cover how to maximize the use of Wacom tablets in Adobe Photoshop and Elements, Lightroom and a majority of the key Plug-Ins that photographers use as creative tools. We will be using the Intuos Pro that provides exceptional pen pressure control with an intuitive multi-touch surface and many enhanced productivity features. All the demonstrations will be applicable to both Windows and Mac based products. We will learn how to install the tablet; how to map the tablet to your display or displays; how to configure and customize the tablet and pen and creating unique settings for your Touch Ring, ExpressKeys, ExpressView, touch gestures, and the side switch on your pen will be addressed. Finally we will use these tools to work on enhancing images in Lightroom and Photoshop. We will use the tools with various plugins and demonstrate how you can scale up the quality of your image editing and enhancement with this must have combination of the pen and tablet. 20 Wacom Tablets (supplied by Wacom) will be on hand for attendees who do not own one to borrow for the preconference course. Want to learn Lightroom or get better at using this powerful tool? This hands-on class will show how you can get the most out of using Lightroom. This class will cover all aspects of Lightroom from time saving techniques on how to import your images into Lightroom to learning the best settings within Lightroom to get the most out of your images. Learn how to use all the tools, white balance, density, color and contrast, highlight, shadow, white point and black point for image editing utilizing best workflow methods. Import, use and create your own presets within the class. This class will also feature lessons on how to apply adjustments selectively with the brush tool. Get amazing and dynamic transformations that brush tool can create with stacked application of brush adjustments. Prerequisites: Bring your laptop with Lightroom 5 installed and power cord. This class will cover all aspects of Lightroom from time saving techniques on how to import your images into Lightroom to learning the best settings within Lightroom to get the most out of your images. Learn how to use all the tools, white balance, density, color and contrast, highlight, shadow, white point and black point for image editing utilizing best workflow methods. Import, use and create your own presets within the class. This class will also feature lessons on how to apply adjustments selectively with the brush tool. Get amazing and dynamic transformations that brush tool can create with stacked application of brush adjustments. Prerequisites: Bring your laptop with Lightroom 5 installed and power cord. Image files and presets will be provided for all lessons learned in class.

Association would like to invite all photographers to the 2015International Exhibition

This
year’s exhibition, which will also be our last exhibition, had 1103
entrants with over 4400 images, from 28 states and 57 different countries.
For 2015 we had 28 clubs from all over the world enter and vie for “Best Club”
status,
sixteen United States clubs (fifteen from New England), and twelve foreign
clubs. We received entries from clubs in Iran, Japan, India, Hong Kong,
England, Australia, Slovenia, China, Wales, Iran, and Denmark. The Best Club went
to Merrimack Valley Camera Club of Andover, Massachusetts. Please join us to see this spectacular array of images
from all four corners of the earth. This year’s exhibition has some very unique
and dramatic images in it. The world’s best photography in one showcase
presentation. After the show we will present the Medals to those winners who
are in attendance. We had a large number of New England Award winners this
year.
The
multi-media showcase is being assembled by a Greater Lynn talented audio-visual
producer, Barbara Rozavsky, HonNEC. A master of music selection, her theme segments are a joy
to hear and watch. She always matches the images to the music perfectly. The show will run approximately 90 minutes with a
short intermission. It will contain about 1400 of the higher scoring images
that were "accepted into the exhibition" by the 3 person judging
panel.
The admission cost
will be $8. Tickets are available at the door or in advance from Susan

Thirty-eight
years is a long time for a continued project. Over the years we have gone from
slides to digital and photography has evolved in many ways. This is the end of
an era at Greater Lynn and I hope you will be there to see the last of the era.

CAP Dinner and Tops in Connecticut Show
CAP Dinner and Tops in Connecticut Show
CAP is pleased to announce that the 2014 Tops in Connecticut acceptances will be shown at a dinner on April 18, 2015, including commentary about the images. These eighty plus images from talented Connecticut photographers were chosen from almost five hundred submitted images.
Date: Saturday, April 18, 2015
Time: Show begins at 5 p.m. followed by a short business meeting and presentation of the awards followed by a buffet dinner
