Icelandic Photo Adventure

March 7-126-day all-inclusive photographing the aurora borealis,
ice caves, waterfalls, glaciers, horses & more!
In this six-day all-inclusive workshop sponsored by Cape Cod Art Association/Photography Center of Cape Cod, we will journey through parts of southeastern and southwestern Iceland, a stunning landscape where we can see  the Northern Lights, ice caves, spectacular waterfalls, glaciers, icebergs, dramatic coastlines, geysers, mountains, Icelandic horses and more. We will be visiting Iceland in early March when the weather is similar to the weather in the Northeast U.S., and when the amazing aurora borealis is visible in the evenings.  The six-day adventure includes hotels, all meals, ground transportation, hotel transfers, air travel (except international air) and instruction with two photographers.

The first Macro Photo Conference was in 2014 and sold out in 20 days and drew photographers from 16 different states,and two provinces of Canada.

This is a unique photo conference dedicated to macro photography. I’ve always wanted to design a program where highly experienced photographers could come together and teach their skills in macro photography and post processing techniques to those who want to learn and advance their macro photography to the next level. As a photographer, I specialize only in macro photography, and I'm not into other styles of photography. Our instructors for this conference are all accomplished photographers  in many styles, but they were chosen for their abilities to produce great macro images.

This Macro Photo Conference will have plenty of how-to lectures and about five hours of photographing with varying subject matter. The speakers and instructors will be available to help participants with composing subjects and technical aspects. The ratio will be 8 participants to 1 instructor so you should not have a problem finding help if you need it. So you just need to bring your camera, macro lens, and tripod, and we will take care of making you better macro photographer.

Along with learning how to be a better macro photographer, John Barclay will demonstrate some of the great post processing programs available to take your images to the next level.

Leading New England photo retailer Hunt’s Photo will be there selling lots of photo products. Tamron will have tech reps on hand with lenses available for you to try out.

YOU ARE INVITED - The Greater Lynn Photographic Association invites all photographers everywhere to submit digital images to the GREATER LYNN INTERNATIONAL COLOR EXHIBITION. All phases of the exhibition will be conducted in accordance with the recommended practices of the Photographic Society of America, the Federation Internationale de l’Art Photographique 2015/043 (FIAP), and the Canadian Association for Photographic Art (CAPA).

There is no restriction on subject matter.

• After 37 years, our 38th 2015 exhibition will be our final year

Autofocus microadjustment is a procedure that allows a user to correct for small errors of front- or back-focusing.  Note that this adjustment is most noticeble will have the greatest benefit for lenses with fast apertures (f/2.8 and wider), because the thin depth of field at wide apertures makes even small focus errors more evident.

* Most modern DSLR camera bodies allow for AF Fine Tuning / AF Adjustment. Contact your camera manufacture if you’re uncertain your camera will allow for autofocus calibration and micro adjustment.

*** If your camera does not allow for Fine Tuning of its Autofocus System, don’t worry!

By using this product you will immediately know which of your lens front focus and which back focus and most importantly by how much. This provides you the information needed to make sharper photographs at the time of capture.(ie. When shooting portraiture, most agree focusing on the eyes is a good rule to follow but you may find that to obtain sharp, crystal clear, eyes may require you to focus on the persons ears or possibly tip of nose due to focusing problems found using this AF Lens Calibration Tool).

Everyone should calibrate their lens (either automatically if your camera has micro-adjustment or manually if not). At our last workshop we found that all of the participants' lenses needed adjusting -- and one person learned that his lens was NOT focusing at all; luckily he found out before he left for his big trip. Everyone should calibrate their lens!
