The Osterville Village Library and the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club celebrate National Photography Month

Osterville, MA –“The Osterville Village Library and the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club celebrate National Photography Month May 1st through 31st, 2016 with a photography exhibit and lecture series.”

The Osterville Village Library will be hosting an exhibition of photographs taken by the membership of the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club.  The exhibit opens on Sunday, May 1st and will be viewable during normal library hours throughout the month of May.  Photographs will be presented on both the main floor and the second floor of the library.

In addition to the exhibit, a series of speakers from the Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club will be presenting a variety of topics on photography at the library throughout the month of May.
For the opening of the exhibit, on May 1st from 2:30 – 3:30 p.m., Mark and Patti McGrath will present a lecture “Walks and Adventures on Cape Cod”, in which they will discuss their hiking adventures when they hiked the entire perimeter of Cape Cod and will discuss their seven favorite hikes for photo opportunities on the Cape.  Immediately following the lecture, the Camera Club will host an Opening Reception from 3:30 – 5:30 p.m. on the second floor of the library.  The Reception is free and the public is invited.

On Thursday, May 5th at 5:00 p.m., Suz and Michael Karchmer will be presenting a lecture on “iPhoneography” in which they will be sharing their tips and tricks to taking quality photographs with your iPhone.

The lecture series continues on Thursday, May 12th at 5:00 p.m. with “Nature: Near and Far with the Eyes of Photographers”.  Meredith Pearson will present her works, “Dune Women”, a photographic exploration of images and textures.  Jon Rolf will present his works “Eagle Quest”, “Scenes from Vietnam” and “Kenya Photo Safari”.  Rolf’s photography celebrates his love for wildlife and travel.
Continuing with the theme of exotic travels, on Thursday, May 19th at 5:00 p.m., Ron Snider presents his lecture “Travels: Near and Far with the Eyes of a Photographer”.  In this lecture, he will present works from his collections “Market Finds” and “Bali Through the Lens of a Street Photographer: Exotic Land of Mystery and Enchantment.”

The final lecture in the series will be presented on Thursday, May 26th at 5:00 p.m. by a series of speakers who will all share photographs from recent trips to Cuba.  “Travels to Cuba” will be presented by club members Ross Gorman, Michael Karchmer, Suz Karchmer, Jeff Moore, Debbie Owen, Amanda Reed, Ken Rowell and Rachel Sokolowski.

The exhibit and related events are free and open to the public.

The Cape Cod Viewfinders Camera Club meets the first and third Wednesday, September through May, at Brooks Library, Route 39 and Bank Street, Harwich at 7:00 p.m. Guests are welcome.  For more information, visit their website at capecodviewfinders.org.
